Medicinal mushrooms are used in traditional Chinese medicine and by cutting edge western doctors to treat weak immune systems. Cancer patients recovering from the effects of radiation and chemotherapy, AIDS/HIV patients and those with auto-immune disorders benefit from the protective and regenerative effects of mycomedicinals, or medical mushrooms.
My favorite mushroom product for protecting myself and my family during cold and flu season comes from Paul Stamets’, one of the leading mycologists in the world. Grown in pristine conditions in Washington state, Stamets’ mushroom products are safe and powerful. Host Defense is an incredible tool for immune support any time of year.

Wow I did not know that about mushrooms I just ate them in Pizza.
Hello Alex,
I’ve been a fan of Paul Stamets’ mushroom knowledge for quite some time, but when I checked out his website I found a great article on using mushrooms to mitigate the pollution from farm animal waste/manure. Paul calls it mycofiltration. It’s not surprising that something that is so beneficial to us humans is also beneficial to the land/ecology; they often go hand in hand.

Who knew they were medicinal as well as tasty?!!!! Someone once told me mushrooms were useless for nutrition. I’ll send him this! I’ll show him!
How cool that you can order your own mushroom growing kits, so you can grow your little own immune-defenders! I have heard of people doing this but I never knew where to get them.
I can buy sterilized birch plugs that are fully colonized by pure mushroom mycelium and grow my own mushrooms on a stump.
Learned that the mushrooms can help lower cholesterol. Thanks for this information.
Unlike many vegetables, you benefit most from mushrooms once you cook them. Who knew?? Cool site!
I learned that a powerful and unique antiviral called RC-183 is derived from mushrooms! I also learned that Paul Stamets is based in my old stomping grounds of Olympia, WA – GO GEODUCKS GO!
I was excited to learn Medicinal Mushrooms can actually lower cholesterol and support the immune system. It was really cool to learn that you can use recycled products to grow the mushrooms on.
Ok, the really coolest part–>anyone can do this!!
Thank you
The mushroom growing kits are probably my favorite items but I also like the mushroom toxicology poster. I use to go on fungi forays in the Hoosier National Forest. So much fun. That poster would have come in handy.
I learned that certain types of mushrooms have anti-bacterial, anti-yeast, anti-viral, and anti-tumor properties.
WoW.. I want to try this.. Sounds wonderful. I eat all types of mushrooms.. the tastes and the textures are delicious
GROW SHROOMS !! They also offer educator kits which
could be used at school or home schooling. Great to
involve kids in growing their own food!
Mushrooms are so neat. Paul Staments is very neat too! I am especially fascinated by the idea of bioremidiation. To think that mushrooms alone can clean up and transform human made toxins and pollution to make soil and water quality safe again in places that have been poisoned. I found a great recipe for “immune soup” that includes shitake and reishi mushrooms, along with plenty of garlic of course. Thanks for bringing the power of mycomedicinals to light for more people. Who needs antibiotics when you’ve got cute organic ‘shrooms!
