    With an 0 negative blood type, it seems impossible for me to not eat meat. Even though I do feel that eating meat may be contributing to some of my health problems, I crave meat, . Lately, I have been thinking of my relatives on my mother’s side; they are from Italy. My mom visited them a few years back. She told me that her relatives ate, if any, very little portions of meat. Also, my former upstairs neighbor is a vegetarian. She used to bake treats for my son and me. They were mostly delicious. Maybe it is possible for me to limit or avoid eating meat. That is why I would like to check out your book; to see if it is the lifestyle for me. By the way; I just ordered your book, The Great American Detox Diet and am eagerly anticipating reading it. I appreciate you sharing your wisdom with us so we can have a chance at a healthier lifestyle.

I’ve been “leaning toward” the non-animal world for a while now, and though I’ve cut a lot of animal products out of my life, I have so many questions about how to do this safely and nutritionally.     I have been a vegetarian for 15 years, and have always wanted to go vegan. I’ve tried a handful of times, but I only seem to last a day! I, also, recently found out that I have high cholesterol and blood pressure. I would guess that living a vegan lifestyle would significantly help lower both my cholesterol and blood pressure. I would love to read Living Vegan for Dummies! I need all the help I can get!

    I am intrigued by the vegan lifestyle, and the more I research, the more I believe it is THE way to optimal health. My efforts at going 100% vegan have not yet been successful, but I remain hopeful that I (and my husband) will succeed.

    Finding recipes that taste good is really the key. As a busy working woman, I don’t have time (during the week) to plan elaborate or complicated meals, but we eat out way too much and I need to cook at home to have control over the ingredients in our meals.
    Alex has been an inspiration! Thanks for everything.

    My husband and I just went to Trader Joes yesterday and bought all natural/organic food. Im sick of being sick. I would love to have this book to learn to be a vegan.

    I am a new vegan and still learning the ropes. I’m getting food right, but having a harder time with shoes, clothing, supplements, and meds (no choice on those at the moment – that I know of). When I get a copy of this it will sit right next to your other book. I’d love to snag a free copy being a starving student.

    As a holistic health coach at a functional medicine clinic, I am always looking for good resources to share with patients – resources that teach me, too. Alex has a reputation for being enthusiastic about her vegan lifestyle, without shaming others who are working their way into health. She is a great example in the community and I expect this new book to be fantastic, just like her last one that saved my life when I was turning to whole foods and away from disease.

    I’m an off-the-wagon vegan…and need to get back on! Pizza and free food & snacks at the office have lured me to the dark side! Kidding aside, I feel I need to reaquaint myself with the basics of veganism and why I went vegan in the first place. I know your book will help! Congrats!

    As an only child, I am now essentially parent to my aging parents. While they are open minded for their generation, they are less informed about their healthy options and less empowered in their interactions with increasing dependence on prescriptions medicine from their doctors.     I’m essentially an ovo-lacto vegetarian right now, but I’m taking a nutrition class that is revealing the pitfalls of eating any animal products whatsoever. Also, I am living on my own for the first time and learning to cook; I would love to learn to cook healthy and vegan the RIGHT way the FIRST time (as well as introduce other lifestyle changes…)!

    I am not a vegan, and since I live in Texas, the fact that I do not know anyone who is shouldn’t be a big surprise. But…the idea intrigues me. I have a friend who was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and I can’t help thinking that the main reason for that was his diet. I would love to experiment with becoming a vegan if I had the right tools and guidance.

    The documentary “Super Size Me” is what pushed me to become vegetarian. It’s been a tough road, and at times I slipped back to old habits, but have stuck with it. My husband had a heart attack in August, Reading the heart healthy books, they all point toward a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. My husband has now made the transition to vegetarian and we’ve both begun the road to vegan. I would love to have your book to help in the transition in keeping us heart healthy for a long time.

    I’ve been mostly vegetarian for years, occasionally falling from grace eating fish. My emphasis now is going vegan, which I mostly do. As a cancer survivor of a tiny growth the size of a lentil bean, that was removed, I am a whole lot more aware of what I eat may impact my general immune system. I want to try and stay on course, and I’m hoping that this book will lead me in that direction. Recipes are great, and I love experimenting. But what I’m really looking for is a lifestyle change and I’m hoping that this book has that component. I want to escape the curse that diet may be responsible of one being a diabetic, a cancer patient, or having coronary heart disease. I want a life well spent, active and beating someone a lot at Tennis.

I want easy to make and travel with if needed, food that the kids and husband will eat, and most importantly food that will help instill healthy choices in my children so that they may get a fantastic jumpstart in life and may even pass along to their friends.

As an aspiring Vegan, the wife of a Vegetarian who has cholestoral through the roof, and the mother of a 2 and 4 year old who are picky eaters – but love hot dogs and ham(!), I am desparate to give us all a good foundation for life and free us from illness and disease.     Hi Alex!
    I’m in the progress of reading your other book (The Great American Detox Diet) and am thoroughly enjoying it — hardly a few pages in, I got out a spiral-bound notebook to start jotting down notes and ideas!

    I have never been a vegan or vegetarian; as a young-one this was limited mainly by restrictions by the household chef/mother (with 6+ mouths to feed, special meals and “unnecessary” dietary restrictions were a no-go). I have always been interested, but I didn’t know how to attempt vegetarianism or being vegan on my own. Now that I am away for school and attempting to feed myself (balancing being a broke student while wanting to eat healthily), I want to set forth on this journey — which I definitely need a bit of help with! (Hence, Living Vegan for *Dummies* would be great!) Looking forward to breaking out a new spiral-bound binder for notes. ;)

    I so enjoy your emails. I first heard you speak a few years ago at Healthy Lifestyle Expo. Burbank, Ca. put on by Jeff and Sabrina, of Vegsource. Thank you for the detox recipes and drinks, they give me “hope” at age 74, still trying to figure out why I have so much pain in my legs.     I was a vegan a few years ago before I was diagnosed with hashimotos thyroiditis and decided to cut soy out of my diet. I had read multiple conflicting studies that stated soy was bad for thyroid disorders and breast cancer. I’ve tried a number of times to go back to being vegan without the soy and it’s just been tiresome trying to plan an adequate diet with substance with out soy products. Needless to say I haven’t been able to successfully transition back to being vegan even though I’d love to. I would love a copy of this book to learn how to live a balanced vegan life.

    I have just been recently diagnosed with PBC-Primary Biliary Cirohsis. I am waiting for results of biopsy. My primary care doctor is a big supported of a whole foods plant based diet. So I am trying hard.. I am determined that switching to a vegan diet will help me either slow down the progression or maybe even reverse this condition. However, trying to get support for this from my Liver specialist at a major univeristy hopsital is not going to be easy.. I just heard your interview on NPR station in western north carolina.. I am going to share your website with everyone..

    After my Mom was diagnosed with colon cancer I have read tons of information about nutrition to try and help her. Unfortunately it was too late and my Mom passed away. I know feel I need to continue my research to help all of my family. I have gone organic and started using brewers yeast and wheat grass, but feel there is still more I can learn and do.
